Spring Flowers On A Chilly Night

Written by: Nancy G. Brundrett

Spring flowers on a chilly night are amazingly strong
They are awake with the cold northern breezes blowing
Trying to keep their happy faces in the season's fickle ways
It is dark and most souls are sleeping, but the flowers never slumber
Saving up all their strength from the past years to wither the winds
Now is the time to shine and flourish
The chill could kill the frail being
Fragile and short is the life time
So they wear a glorious smile for you
Sometimes big, loud and eye catching
Other blooms are so hidden from the naked eye
Throny stemmed ones cling to mountainsides
Flowery vines wrap around whatever they can hold on to
Moist ones rest by rivers and the sandy shorelines of the oceans
So many spring flowers from the earth to treasure
Praying for the chilly evening gusts to be kind
Don't forget about the spring flowers on a chllly night

Spring is a favorite season for many
Still autumn remains somber and paints a different picture
All and all there is nothing like the beauty of spring flowers
Their petals dance in the April moonlight
They catch raindrops on petals for strength
Blue Mountain Laurels are wild and free in the countryside
Noonday rays on the flowers shout out their many patterned ways
I could go on with miles of tales of all the colors of a rainbow
Flowers given hand to hand with written words are symbols of love
Bouquets of amorous affections passed from heart to heart
A flower can help speak the languages of love
God's hands paint the flowers called roses for His children
Their thorns are a reminder of His Son's sacrifice
They sway in the winds of this special Easter season
Their lifetime is short so bend down and take take a sharp look
They were planted here for our enjoyment
Don't forget about the spring flowers on a chilly night

Sometimes hands reach down to pick them randomly
They are gentle to the touch and the aroma is sweet and fresh
There is no pain in being chosen and picked
Standing in full glory when placed in a glass, stone or bronze vase
There they will stand for a while for all eyes to gaze upon
Proud are the flowers that are adorned in the hair of a woman
See all the majestic creations in full living color
Watch the hummingbirds flutter around red blossoms
Observe the butterflies resting on the petals with their short life span
Flowers are brilliantly created with splashes of beauty
Some will take refuge on remote country roadsides
Others are home grown or store bought
Find a blessing in whole pastures filled with colorful little faces
A God given blessing to all souls seeking comfort along life's journey
They do their colorful dances in the lazy summer breezes as the sun does set
Just for the eyes of the beholder under the sun kissed sky
So step out into the sunshine and find the friendly face of a flower
But don't forget about the spring flowers on the chilly night

I Get High On Sunshine

SUNSET COLORS, TWO

By: Rod McKuen ( one of the best heartful poets I have ever read)
www.rodmckuen.com Go to his website and buy his awesome poetry books. I think I own every single one of them. The best ones to get are the ones you find in old Book stores. Most of the books of his are from the 70's. It is a treasure to find some one's hand me down "Rod McKuen book" in a used book store. It is so cool to read on the first pages of the old books from the original buyers. They always write something so special. A place in time when that person needed that book to get through something or just some heart poetry lover's remarks. Well, that is what makes my heart and soul so happy, when I have some one elses Rod McKuen books from the past in my hand that is for sale in a used book store. Who in the world would EVER trade in one of his books?

Sunset Colors, Two

By: Rod McKuen

I'll race you up the hill
we can be children
if we want to be.
It's spring
and there's a difference
between children's games and
games.
Besides
we are not so old
that we cannot still be mystified
by marigoldsor dazzled by the dandelion
carpeting the ground
horizon to horizon.
Hurry up
grab my hand
be carefulbut not with me.
Why am I running so fast?
To get there soonest.
I told you once
that I get high
on sunshine
and you may take that
any way you like.
Be careful
invisible tunneling of moles
has made the ground
a minefield.

-from "Celebrations of the Heart," 1975 and "Watch for the Wind," 1983

LOVE IS BLIND

By: Nancy G. Brundrett
* some lyrics conspired by Katherine Dawn (an up and coming signed Texas Music Artist)

I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT LOVE IS BLIND
LOOKING FOR MR. RIGHT, HE’S HARD TO FIND
ALL THE GOOD YEARS SEEM LEFT BEHIND
ALL I KNOW IS LOVE IS BLIND

MY FIRST ATTRACTION TO HIM WERE HIS EYES
OCEAN BLUE COLOR, YET HE NEVER CRIES
HE WAS DIFFERENT THAN THE REST
SHOULD I TAKE A CHANCE AND TRY MY BEST?

LOVE IS BLIND, LOVE IS BLIND
WITHIN YOUR ARMS, TRUE LOVE I COULDN’T FIND

I DON’T KNOW WHAT LOVE IS, ONLY WHAT IT ISN’T NOW
SO I’LL GLADLY MOVE ON AND SURVIVE SOMEHOW
OUR ROMANCE HAD SLOWLY LOST ITS POWER
DOWN THROUGH THE YEARS, TO THIS EXACT HOUR

I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR A SOUL MATE
LOVE’S EYES WERE BLIND, SO I ACCEPT THIS FATE
AS I AM WALKING AWAY FROM YOU, I'M WALKING BACK TO ME
I HAVE THE REST OF MY LIFE FOR REAL LOVE TO SET ME FREE

LOVE IS BLIND, LOVE IS BLIND
I’LL TRY TO KEEP MY EYES OPEN NEXT TIME

Lay Me Down

Driving out through the windmills
And some of them are still
Sometimes it's hard to catch the wind
And bend it to your will

Even though it's hard to know
Just how the story ends
The road is long and it takes it's time
On that you can depend

Lay me down in the river
And wash this place away
Break me down like sand from a stone
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

Lay me down
Lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again

Lay me down
Lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again

Somewhere between heaven and hell
A soul knows where it's been
I want to feel my spirit
Lifted up and catch my breathe again

Lay me down in a river
And wash this place away
Break me down like sand from a stone
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

Lay me down
Lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again

Lay me down
Lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again one day
