From Riches to Rags

Riches to rags
Living out of bags
Place to place
Space to space
The journey seems endless
Sometimes even friendless
Funny how true colors are shown
When some won’t even pick up the phone

Riches to rags, I seem to be
I'm all right. I shall be free
Late night prayers as I lay in bed
Give me this day my daily bread
The kindness of a stranger
Having faith, fearing no danger
My old leather Bible in hand
All those words help me to stand

Riches to rags, Jesus came down from above
With all the gentleness of a morning dove
Now I’m thankful for the little things
With all the colors of love it brings
Standing up against an evil force
Running the race, finishing the course
Always believing someday I’ll have a home
Where my soul is not restless, no more to roam

Have you ever just had nothing? No money, no gas, no medicine or resources at all? What if an entity came and withheld them from you just to inflict pain? Would you trust God to be your provider? Think about it as you sit in your favorite chair, eating your favorite food and drinking your favorite drink. Think about all the earthly things we take for granted. Have you ever found yourself from riches to rags?

Like a thief in the middle of the night, evil can come and get in your face. This force could take all your earthly possessions and hold them captive. It is a form of cruel punishment with the motive of hatred and revenge. This entity will try to inflict pain. No one can ever take away your Spirit, unless you let them. The best way to handle this situation is to put on the Armour of God and get the victory over evil intent. You must discern good from evil.

Ephesians 6:10-17

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole Armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world. Put on the whole Armour of God, that you may be able to stand and withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on breastplates of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.

Remember those who emulate evil will not see the kingdom of God. They shall be cast away by their very own Creator. But those few who display the fruits of the Spirit shall inherit “ALL” the riches prepared by “HIS HANDS!”

Eph: 4:17

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you don’t walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their minds, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

So what are the fruits of true believers? What’s in your tree? Is your tree healthy and bearing delicious fruit? You can judge people by the trees they have plant and grow. Some have withered leaves, dying limbs, fruitless trees with mold, webs, thorns and worms left there to kill the tree and leave it barren. I want the Creator to look down at my healthy fruitful tree and grant me favor.

Gal 5: 16-25

Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. The flesh lusts against the flesh. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and these souls shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The fruits of the Spirit are LOVE, JOY, PEACE, LONGSUFFERING, GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, MEEKNESS, TEMPERANCE: against such there is no law.

For if a man thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

Vengeance is mine says the Lord. He owns it! Don’t take his vengeance or you will reap his wrath and will feel miseries upon miseries. So the fruits of the Spirit are the best. When you love, when you feel joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance, you a true believer. In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it weren’t true he would have said so. He went to prepare a place, an eternal home for the true believer to rest for an eternity with streets of gold, walls of alabaster and jasper. Heaven is going to be so beautiful, made by “HIS HANDS” and for “ALL” true believers to come and rest forever.

You can learn so much about God’s grace when you descend from riches to rags. That is what Jesus did.

Peace in Christ,

Nancy G
